Styling a New Trend: Florals and Stripes

Styling a New Trend: Florals and Stripes

I have always loved mixing prints because it is a easy way to accentuate the other prints (ironically). So this trend is a great way to wear two prints together in a less "loud" way.
Stripes being very geometric and monochromatic, being put together with florals, colorful and random(ish) highlight each others opposing traits very well. There are also so many ways I wear this trend making it versatile for many different styles.

So here are my styling tips on how to wear this trend.

1. Choose a floral that is large, not small and patterned. While small patterned florals do look nice, put together with stripes will make you look a little too geometric and lined out.
2. Choose thinner stripes for most florals. Wide stripes sometimes draw too much attention away from the florals. But play around with it!
3. Standard rule. Vertical stripes on bottoms and horizontal stripes on top usually look best.
4. Keep your accessories and shoes solid colors.
If you want to go with a color other than a neutral, a good rule of thumb is to choose a not well represented color in the floral and use that. If you want just use black or brown, even nude! But I would be careful about white since 95% of striped items use white as one of the striped colors.
5. When matching florals and stripes, black and white stripes seem to go with everything! (Except floral skirts with navy as a base) Navy and white stripes are a great choice as well. But colors striped with white can always be paired with colors that complement well.

That's all! Have fun with this trend!
The great part about this trend is you probably already have these items in your closet!
I hope my styling tips helped!
Until next time!
XOXO

Workout Motivation+Tips on Being More Active

Working Out Doesn't Have to Be BoringWorking Out Doesn't Have to Be Boring by lacedaisies featuring nike sportswear

I know, it's summer, and we all want to have bikini perfect bodies. I mean who doesn't?
So here are some tips to get moving during the day and some workout motivation for you!

First of all though, you need to check out Blogilates on Youtube. She has tons of workout videos and healthy eating videos! Click me to check out her channel

She also has a workout calendar that groups her videos per day, so you can get the best possible workout! Click me to get the July calendar
I have been following her for a few months now, and  I am completely addicted. She really keeps you engaged, and you will love her amazing personality and workouts!

 Tips on Being More Active

1. When going anywhere, the mall, the gym, grocery shopping, always park FAR AWAY from the entrance.
 2. Take the stairs, not the elevator. (Unless you need to get to the 29th floor in a rush. I did that once, not fun)
3.When brushing your teeth, do calf raises.
4. When watching television, do sit ups and/or push ups during the advertisements.
5. Get a pedometer, I know this sounds nerdy, but make sure you get at least 10,000 steps per day!
6. Walk when you can, don't drive and waste gas. *** Environment saving, WOOHOO!
7. When taking groceries from your car, don't kill yourself trying to get all the groceries in one trip, split it into a few trips!
8. If you have a dog. Volunteer to walk him/her.
9. Get a gym membership if you can. Make yourself go a few times a week! (I go every day!)

That's all I have for now! But if I think of more, I will make sure to edit them in!

Comment below if you have any tips!

Motivation
1. Cute workout gear. I know, it sounds shallow. But sometimes all a girl needs is some cute stuff to get her motivated? Ya know?
So, go out to Dicks, Target, Kohls, Pink, even Forever 21 and H&M, and make sure to pick up: cute shoes if you don't have any (I personally love Nike), shorts (running, yoga, whatever makes you feel the most comfy), tank tops and/or t-shirts, a cute water bottle, headbands, workout accessories for your phone or iPod, also a yoga mat, weights and anything else you think you will need!
After you picked up all the supplies, USE THEM. Hopefully everything is so cute that you couldn't bear for it to just be stuffed in the back of your closet right?

2. The Dollar Bill Approach. If you are not the easily motivated type go find a piggy bank, a jar or something that you can post a sticky note and put money into.

This is about what mine looks like:)
So after you find your money keeping jar, find something that you really want and either write it on the sticky note or print it out. Find something that is $20 or more.
Next find the amount in dollar bills.
Now here is the fun part. Don't buy the item that you really want, but every time you COMPLETE a workout, place a dollar bill in the bank. Only do one per day! Tally it on your sticky note, or something else, and when you get to the amount go out and buy the thing that you really wanted!
This way you are sure to get something that you wanted AND you get a rockin' bod.
Now, just keep repeating this process!

3. Track It.  You can either use the calendar that you printed from Blogilates.com or if you aren't going to be using Blogilates, any other calendar will do. Just cross off every day that you exercise. When you get to one month, treat yourself to something special. Like ice cream or something!

4. Use Your Rest Day to Your Advantage. Everyone should take one day off per week. So tell yourself. "If I blow off today, then I will have to use my rest day as a workout day." every time you want to just not exersize.

5. Log. Log. Log.  If you want to lose weight, or just look more toned, log.
If you want to lose weight, find a journal, and log your weight everyday. If you want to look more toned, take a picture of yourself, every first day of every month.

That's all! But if I think of more, I will add them in! Also, comment below! How do you motivate yourself?

I also wanted to say, no, appearance isn't everything. But working out isn't just about appearance. It is about how YOU FEEL and YOUR HEALTH.
If you would feel more confident a little slimmer, go for it. This is about making you feel confident and beautiful. You will only change if YOU want it. Don't think about how others think of you. Think of YOU and YOU alone.

Anyways! Thanks so much for reading!<3
Comment below any suggestions for future posts and anything else you would like to say!~

Until next time!
XOXO

Fighting the Summer Heat

Fighting the Summer Heat

During the summer it's harder to look fashionable because of the scorching temperatures, but by wearing cute patterned shorts, a tank, and a necklace to pull the outfit together, as well
as a hat to protect you from the sun, you can be cool and chic at the same time!
Until next time! XOXO

Hauling and Styling: F21 Shorts

On Saturday, a friend and I went shopping at a Forever 21.
I actually wasn't planning on getting anything, but, without fail, I walk out with two items..
I swear, Forever21 is a drug, and I am addicted to it.
Soo, I picked up, these two pairs of shorts.
Did I mention these were only 9.99 each??
And here are two outfits with each pair.

First, with the green pleated shorts,
I paired with a tee with lace sleeves from Charlotte Russe

 This leaf necklace from F21

And my floral Keds from DSW.
I like to keep my outfits simple, and I tend to underaccessorize a lot..(But I am working on it!)

And here is the completed outfit!

Next with the grey shorts,

I paired it with a blue-ish grey chiffon blouse, from F21,
and underneath, I wore a black tank top from Aeropostale.

For accessories, a simple magnetic bracelet that I bought when I visited China last year.

As for shoes, my beat up Sperry Topsiders from Dillards are always my go to shoe because of their neutral color and comfortable-ness (Is that even a word?)

Anyways, this is how it looks all together.

I actually plan to wear this outfit in fall, because of the color palette and long sleeves.
Also the bracelet I showed i actually played around with it to create this really cool hand/glove/handthong thing.

Well that's all!
I hope you liked these outfits!
Tell me, which one was YOUR favorite?
Comment below!:)

XOXO
