DIY: Dolce and Gabbana Inspired Floral Sunglasses

Hello Lovelies! I was totally inspired by the Dolce and Gabbana floral sunglasses, but at around $300 a pair,  I decided it was completely doable for me to DIY a pair for a fraction of the cost.
Here is what the final product looks like:

Materials you will need:

Sunglasses- I chose a simple cat eye pair from Forever 21 for $5.80 just in case the DIY didn't turn out as planned.  You can also just use a pair of old sunglasses!
I do suggest getting a pair of cat eye sunglasses (they have a perfect amount of space to glue           flowers on at the edges), but other thick framed glasses will work as well!

Glue- You will need a super strong glue to make sure your glasses last! I personally used E6000 (around $6).

Plastic/Ceramic Flowers- I purchased mine from the seller MyTasu on Etsy. Click here to check her out. Also since I painted my flowers, the colors didn't matter much to me, but she has a wide array of colors in case you want to keep your flowers in their original colors. I spent $11.45.

Spray Paint (Optional)- This is only for people who wish to paint their flowers. I purchased the Krylon Dual Superbond in Gold Metallic. ($6.00)
If you do choose to spray paint your flowers you'll also need some newspapers or something to
cover your working area!

All in all the total price for this DIY was around $29.25, but I had many leftover flowers, glue, and spray paint, so you'll have much left over for the next pair of sunglasses you wish to do!

Now finally let's get started!

First, if you are going to spray paint your flowers, go outside or find a well ventilated area, and    cover the ground/table/etc. with newspapers and place your plastic flowers on it.

Next, paint thin coats until the flowers are covered, wait until dry (check your spray paint's instructions!). Then flip the flowers over and repeat!

Next, play around with the placement of the flowers until you find something you like. And it's finally time to glue on the flowers!

Wait for the glue to dry, and you are done!

I hope you  guys love this DIY as much as I do! I will definitely be flaunting these sunnies proudly and I hope you guys will as well!
I also am going to be adding a new part to my blog posts that I hope you guys will like! I always write my posts with music playing in the background, and at the end of the page, you will find a list of the songs/albums I listened through!

Until next time~XOXO

Styling a New Trend: Florals and Stripes

Styling a New Trend: Florals and Stripes

I have always loved mixing prints because it is a easy way to accentuate the other prints (ironically). So this trend is a great way to wear two prints together in a less "loud" way.
Stripes being very geometric and monochromatic, being put together with florals, colorful and random(ish) highlight each others opposing traits very well. There are also so many ways I wear this trend making it versatile for many different styles.

So here are my styling tips on how to wear this trend.

1. Choose a floral that is large, not small and patterned. While small patterned florals do look nice, put together with stripes will make you look a little too geometric and lined out.
2. Choose thinner stripes for most florals. Wide stripes sometimes draw too much attention away from the florals. But play around with it!
3. Standard rule. Vertical stripes on bottoms and horizontal stripes on top usually look best.
4. Keep your accessories and shoes solid colors.
If you want to go with a color other than a neutral, a good rule of thumb is to choose a not well represented color in the floral and use that. If you want just use black or brown, even nude! But I would be careful about white since 95% of striped items use white as one of the striped colors.
5. When matching florals and stripes, black and white stripes seem to go with everything! (Except floral skirts with navy as a base) Navy and white stripes are a great choice as well. But colors striped with white can always be paired with colors that complement well.

That's all! Have fun with this trend!
The great part about this trend is you probably already have these items in your closet!
I hope my styling tips helped!
Until next time!
XOXO
